Shining the Light on a Family in Darkness
-
“Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! When the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand. And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage. Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily: for this time is evil. In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields. Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast a cord by lot in the congregation of the LORD”
(Micah 2: 1-5).

These excerpts from the taped meeting between Dan Gayman and Jerry Gentry on November 15, 2000, clearly show that Dan Gayman has misrepresented to the public his true position and personal dealings with Jerry Gentry, concerning the departure of Scott Stinson from the Church of Israel in November of last year. If you have heard the lies, you should now hear the truth.

Jerry: "Brother Dan, let me tell you, for the record, my good friend Dan Gayman has completed what I consider to be an honorable, forthright, direct and peaceable solution to a stickly problem that had arisen, and it now is resolved to my understanding, completely and fully. I can't imagine any need for anything else. But sometimes, you know, that might happen. But I can't imagine any need for anything further in this matter. You've blessed our good brother Scott. He has blessed you. And you have written these letters for the purpose of cautioning anyone who might be prone to gossip, or anything like that, or even just talk, to guard their tongues."
Dan: "If someone lets say asked me, or asked you, why did Scott leave the church, what would you say?"
Jerry: "I believe that it's a prompting of God on his life. And I believe that he is moving forward on faith, in faith, and he is independently stepping out to do what God has called him to do."
Dan and Jerry: "Jerry, as we go back to the morning of your arrival here, now, did you feel that I welcomed you? I had no idea that you were anywhere around here. Did you think that I was cool? Dan, you welcomed me with the same wide open arms, as you have always welcomed me personally. We've had our theological debates and letters and hot, heated issues that we've discussed. But I have yet to meet my friend Dan Gayman and not get a big hug. You welcomed me with warmth. You welcomed me to the prayer rail. You met my request."
Jerry: "I'm just praising God! I'm praising God for the resolution of the matters regarding Scott and the church here, and the mutual blessing, and I'm just so thankful also that you personally in no way shunned Jerry Gentry."
Dan: "Well, Jerry, I know that, of course, you are a very good middle man, liason man, brokerage. You're a good diplomat. Normally people would not say that a perceiver would be good in that position. But I think you have other qualities that make you good in that position and that's basicly because you're a people person. I mean, you understand people. Now, I hope that no one -- I hope you don't think that I'm trying to flatter you here. In other words, you have to be able to know how to work with people, to be a broker between people."
Dan: "Jerry, you know that there is nothing in this world -- and you and I are talking as two dear friends -- there is -- and with God as my witness -- He knows -- my God in heaven knows, that I love Scott Stinson and his family."
Dan: "Because, see what I am saying, Jerry, in good faith, I did everything that Scott wanted me to do."
Dan: "Well, Jerry, just as a matter between us, and because I have to lean on your shoulders heavy, to be my friend, to help me to be a better helper to Scott. I'm going to have to lean on your shoulders and your counsel to be a helper to Scott, at this point in time. See, Jerry, now, from my perspective, and this is where I need you to help me, from my perspective, from the time of your arrival until we sit here tonight, I have with all my heart and diligence tried to cross every "T," dot every "I," do everything that I personally know in good conscience that I can possibly do, and I will continue to do that."
Dan: "Well, I want you to know I do too, Jerry. I want you to know, and you can tell her this at some point in privacy. You tell Lori Stinson that I think she is one fantastic lady."
Dan: "Well, Jerry, do you trust me for this? Now, you know that you've been here three days. And you know, Jerry, that I have essentially with all my heart and soul endeavored to make this transition as peaceful, as uneventful as I know how to make it. I have written these letters. These letters are going to be passed out to the very same people. Some of these people will receive three letters by the time this is over. One, two, three letters. In addition to everything that is going to be on the bulletin board, which is going to be in Scott's own writing, and the piece that you have approved of that came by way of your hand today. So, and I have already, by two telephone calls, today, not by person, but two telephone calls that came in just as I was getting ready to leave for church, [asking] Why is Scott leaving? I said, Scott is going to form a new ministry. He has been working on building the background for this ministry for years. He is ready to sprout his wings and fly. And I want you to help him, pray that his wings will take him wherever God wants him to be. Amen!"
Dan and Jerry: "That's, Jerry, you have my word that I'm going to be pushing hard. Now, I can't say, Jerry, that I can do everything I'd like to do with every tongue. But I'm going to do everything I know to do. Amen. And I believe you, and I believe you are shooting straight with me tonight for this record. In fact, if you don't mind in a moment I want a copy of that tape. Because I want to preserve your voice. I get to hear more of your voice than you get to hear of mine, though. But seriously, I would like this for the record on both sides. Yes."
Dan: "See, when you leave to go to Texas, Jerry, you know that I'm going to be praying for Scott, as I've already -- I've already prayed for Scott every day, night and morning, this week. I prayed for him in the Sanctuary publicly a while ago. Scott Stinson will have as many prayers from my lips as he will from any person on this earth. Because I want Scott to be successful, Jerry. I want to see Scott Stinson find his spiritual fulfillment. I want to see this man turn on and do what God created him to do. And I'm going to be praying that that happens."
Dan: "I'm going to print in the Watchman what he wanted me to print. I'm doing everything, I'm crossing every "T," dotting every "I."
Dan: "I'll tell you what Jerry. Here's -- think of this -- think of it this way. There is a God in heaven who owns the heavens and the earth. And through the benevolent goodness of a good hearted man, a traveling pilgrim, who came through and there were two ministers that didn't have a house to live in. Two houses were raised up. OK? Now, when that house, when you asked as a condition for Scott's departure for that house, Jerry, we didn't bat an eye. Not only that, but we gave without any compunction, we added 10 more acres. And right down the road just, just a few weeks ago, less than a half a mile down the road, that land sold for eleven hundred dollars an acre. So I think that was being very generous with Scott. And his severance pay, now I think that that should have sent a message to Scott Stinson that we have, we have great feeling for him and his future, that we want him to be everything that God wants him to be. See, Jerry, my philosophy is, when you make other people fulfill their dreams, and be their Joseph Haydn, you become fulfilled in your dreams."
Dan: "Well, Jerry, my friend, here is the bottom line. The bottom line is, that you and I both want to see a family soar like the eagle. We want to see Scott Stinson's ministry fly. And I believe what Scott has to do, he's got his home, he's got his severance pay, he's got my assurance of passing out these letters to every single soul, and he's got my assurance that my official spin on Scott Stinson is -- Scott Stinson has launched a ministry. Let's pray for the success of Scott Stinson. Amen! Well on that note, I believe that -- I believe this is concluded. Unless you have something else. No! I'm all finished."
